This past weekend was the annual HarvestFestival up in Burk’s Falls Ontario. Held on the specatcular Midlothian Ridge, we spent Fri-Sun camping in the crisp (and sometimes downright frosty) autumn air. With three large stage areas (playing House, Techno, Psytrance, Dub and everything in between), Zero Gravity Circus, a bluegrass band and THOUSANDS of bundled up revellers, the weekend was a complete blast. As usual, I wish Id taken more photos! This lovely lady is Kat, she and her boyfriend Thomas had simply the BEST outfits of the weekend. Well …

Im having the worst luck finding someone to take my cats. Twice now Ive had trusted friends tell me that they could do it, and twice now (for totally valid reasons) they’ve had to bounce on me.
Im in a massive bind now as I leave in 7 weeks, Ive quit my job (and the position has been filled), and given notice on my apartment (which has since been rented out again). Ive also spent $4000 in preparation of this trip, and its non-refundable. So for a multiple of reasons, I …

After a five year hiatus, I decided that tonight I would bake muffins. They turned out tasty, but not exactly spectacular. A little on the dry side, Im pretty sure that had I used pastry flour instead of organic, whole-wheat, my Pumpkin Ginger muffins would taste less like really tasty bran muffins, and more like, well, pumpkin and ginger.
Ive been thinking, and I believe the solution is to a) add a little more pumpking puree, b) use different flour, c) add some kind of fruit, Im thinking apple, and d) use …

Facebook can be such a powerful tool. I was planning to give away my books, but after realizing just how many I no longer wanted or needed, decided to sell them off for a pitance (which in this case is $7 a book). I created a couple of posts on Facebook, and bam! Ive already sold enough books to buy the new camera/laptop bag I need for my trip. If I sell the rest, it will cover the expense of the duffle bag I need to get.
All of this liquidation …
New Zealand »
That’s the question everyone asks after I’ve told them that Im going to NZ for a year.
Ash and Elisa, aka The Kiwis, aka Trashley and Wheezie. Visiting them was my initial reason for going to NZ. I’d originally planned on taking a 3-5 week vacation with my friend Scott. After much prodding from another friend (that would be Stephanie), we decided to go for a year. Life happened, Scott backed out, and I moved on full-steam ahead.
The Scenery. Have you SEEN New Zealand? From volcanoes to mountain ranges, oceans, rain …

Ive been working on this site quite a bit over the last few days. Ive added a tonne of new features, some of which took some wrangling to get going (Im looking at YOU features gallery), and Ive still got a few things to hammer into place (*ahem* Slimbox/Lightbox/ThinBox? You’re next.), but overall Im pretty happy with how things are going.
Of course, right now it’s terribly boxy and not very marmalade-y, but that will come once the code is in place. While I like the grays, it’s way too dark …
