I could definitely live in this city. So pretty!

A belated g’day mates to you all! Ive been back in New Zealand almost a week now, so it’s high time I show off some shots of Melbourne before I get distracted by something else (ohh how easy that happens). I spent Jan 22-31 in Australia, visiting Stephanie and going to Rainbow Serpent. After the festival, Alex and I spent the week walking around the city taking in the sights. We walked along the Yarra (even saw a few jellyfish!), went to the Melbourne Museum, and to the Shrine of Remebrance. We also visited Victoria Market, a must-go place for souvenirs and fruit! Amazing.

Also amazing, was the 45+C heat wave that the city was embroiled in while we were there. Oh my god, Ive never felt the like. It felt as though the entire city was burning. So hot. It was one of those weeks where you dont even think about leaving the house without an inch of sunscreen on (and yet I still got rather tanned). Insane.

Thankfully the museums were either cheap or free, so we could hide out in the airconditioning when it got too bad (which was often, Im a wuss). I also went to Target! Yes, my favourite store in the world has a store in Melbourne, which is good as I didnt bring enough pairs of shorts to last me the week. I really wasnt expecting it to be so HOT.

After living in Auckland these past few months, Melbourne seemed HUGE to me. All sorts of little, interesting neighbourhoods, many with a Toronto-like vibe to them. The last night I was there we (sans Alex, who had already returned to Taiwan) went on a boozy pub crawl which took us to 3 or 4 fine drinking establishments ;) Had a total blast, and I have to say, the people I met in Australia were just fantastic. Although you know, Im beginning to think that people are great everywhere.

Ive a new adventure up my sleeves that’s in the planning stages right now. Things are looking really exciting, and while I dont want to spoil anything by giving away the details here yet, look for some big developments in the next few weeks.

More Melbourney goodness here.
