The thing that perplexes me the most about Christchurch, is how it isnt built around the seashore. Every other place Ive been in New Zealand has had an lovely, built up waterfront. The city or town starts at the Ocean. Here, the Cathedral was the focus point, and the city grew up around it. Luckily, Christchurch isnt TOO far from the sea (but far enough that you can never smell the salt air, a definite downside I say), and a cheap 25 minute bus ride can take you to one …
Toronto »
With almost 10 months gone since I left home and another eight months before I return, I find myself thinking about Toronto A LOT. When I left, I was so very done with that city and couldn’t wait to leave. I’ve found that distance really does make the heart grow fonder as all of the annoying things have vanished and I’m left feeling wistful and nostalgic about the place I left behind.
So, besides the obvious (my cats, friends and family), here are a few things that I miss about Hogtown:

About a month or so ago I went on a drive through the Port Hills with Kat and Nicky. Come to think of it, I think this was the first time we met and went out shooting together. The day was rainy and cold, so the photos took on a bit of a dreary cast to them. I still loved going up there though, as the Hills are such a relief from the flatness of the rest of Canterbury. A few weeks ago, while nearing the end of my bout with The Illness™, I went on a wee trip out to Birdling’s Flat with my friends Nicky and Kat. I wasn’t sure what to expect, the only thing I knew of the place was that the stone in my necklace was from there. The way NZ Rox carries on, it’s a magical place filled with glacial-placed stones. The reality is that its the grittiest place I have seen since arriving in New Zealand eight months ago. Lining the beach …

Hi all — sorry for allowing so many weeks to go by without an update. I keep promising to myself that I will post every other day, but then life gets busy and I forget. I swear I used to be so much better at this.
The last few weeks have been a bit of a mash-up. First, shortly after my last post I was struck down with The Illness™. While not as severe as The Swine Flu (of which a reported 80% of Cantabrians will catch this winter), it still …

I don’t talk about it at all on here, but when I’m not out gallivanting and taking photos, I’m a front end web developer here in Christchurch, New Zealand (*yaaay!*). One of my main tasks is making websites cross-browser compliant. What that really means, is making sure our sites work in IE6.
My main philosophy when it comes to IE6, is not so much that its a terrible browser (which it is), it’s that people do not know how to correctly write CSS and HTML that the browser will know what …
