Happy kiwi puppy at Taylor's Mistake

I think that Kiwi dogs are just about the happiest dogs on the planet. Sure, I’ve not really seen much of said globe, but still. I’ve yet to come across a pooch here that isn’t just ecstatic to be alive, this fellow included. I think Kiwi dogs (and maybe all dogs?) are happiest on the beach where they can splash about in the waves, run up and down and chase birds with reckless abandon. Who can blame them, eh?

I’m pretty happy these days too, and it’s about bloody time! I feel like I spent most of the last six months in a bit of a funk. Not the most productive way to spend my limited time in Christchurch! I think that was part of the problem, as until recently I was IN Christchurch all of the time. Now that my two North Island trips have come and gone, and it’s the start of December, I’m in a slow and exciting ramp up to my travels. This weekend my company is taking us to Akaroa for the weekend for Christmas dinner on a harbour cruise, then in three weeks my friend Katherine and I are on off on our 11-day road trip. SO. EXCITED.

I’m also still feeling energetic and super-positive about the whole life-crafting thing I wrote about a few days ago. I have so much planning to do with my upcoming travels (in the Antipodes and Asia) that I cant spend too much time thinking about my normal life, but knowing that that project is there waiting for me fills me with such optimism! As I was telling a friend earlier today, I don’t think I have EVER been this excited about my future before. I never really thought about what I wanted from life. Sure, I knew I wanted to find a man and settle down, but other than that I had no aspirations. No wonder I was miserable! Now I have so many goals and dreams I think the trouble will be finding a guy who can not only keep up with me, but continue to inspire me to do more great and wonderful things.

On a side note: Im having a few technical difficulties with my website, so I apologize if you’re finding it hard to navigate around. I have no idea why the pagination wont work for the index pages (it works fine in the archives) and the “Favourite places” scroller wasn’t working (although I have managed to fix that). Also am having issues with Lightbox (the pop-up script for the images), but I know what’s causing that and am trying to fix that too.
