A chateau-like building on Chengcing Lake

When I moved to New Zealand in 2008, I made a stopover in Kaohsiung, Taiwan to visit my friend Alex who had been teaching English there. The night I arrived it began raining for the first time in several months, and didn’t stop till after I left three days later. One of the things we were able to do before the rains really opened up and came down on us was visit Chengchin Lake in the middle of Kaohsiung. Built by Chiang Kai-shek, the former Taiwanese president and military leader in the 1960s, the park was once an underground military headquarters and nuclear bunker, bus has since been adapted into a public aquarium, the Cheng Ching Lake Exotic Marine Life Museum.
