Amazing day yesterday — went out to Scarborough Beach in Sumner for my first ever SURFING LESSON with Kat and Florence. Woah boy, that was fun. I’m sore as today, but cant wait to get back out there. The first time I slid across the water flat out on my board I think I squealed with delight, which of course turned into all out laughter when I toppled over at the end of the run. I’ve yet to actually get up on to my feet though. In fact, I counted …

It’s been a super busy time for me lately. I moved house over the last few days, and am now living with my friend Naiana, a girl I met up in Nelson in April. A group of CouchSurfers from Christchurch were up for the Easter long weekend and invited me on a day trip out to Cable Bay. Absolutely gorgeous spot, has a massive hill that completely kicked out asses. The view was worth it though!
My last apartment while nice, was a very stressful environment for me. The building was …

I few weeks ago I received an email from an American who had saw a post of mine on a New Zealand Facebook page. He wrote me asking if I had any advice for him as he was planning to move here in a few months and wanted to know things that the guidebooks just dont tell you.

Had a nice and lovely cruisy day yesterday with Kat. After a very late start to the day (we’d been up till nearly 3am planning our Christmas Roadtrip), we drove out to Sumner and Taylor’s Mistake to enjoy the sunshine and blue skies. The weather in Christchurch has been really craptastic for the last few weeks (cold, gray, rainy), so it was a welcome surprise to see that Sunday dawned so amazingly.
We weren’t the only ones with this idea, the beach had quite a number of people just sitting and …

It just occurred to me that a lot of my photos are buried within this site. If you aren’t a regular reader, then you might not know to look for them. I tend to post only a select number of photographs with a write-up, then link to my flickr page. But again, if you don’t know it’s there, you won’t find it. I need to spend some time rethinking this arrangement, as Id really like all the good stuff to be available and easy to find right from the home …

Not much going on lately, it’s been a pretty quiet few weeks. Went for a walk in Hagley Park last weekend; the cherry blossoms have pretty much all faded now and the magnolias have completely taken over. Spring here is really lovely and surprising: I’m used to only seeing daffodils, tulips, crucuses (crocii?) and hyacinths around town, but here everything is on a larger, tree-sized scale.
Finally have a road trip coming up, am heading down to Lake Tekapo next weekend for my friend Kat’s 30th birthday. My bus …
