It’s no secret: I love Wellington. It’s rather unfortunate that I wasn’t able to make it my home while in New Zealand. Christchurch is nice and all (and comes with the uber handy well-paying job!), but Wellington is just everything that I hoped my time in this country would be. It looks completely different than Toronto: I love how all of the houses are white, either perched precariously on the hills or nestled at their bases. Airplane window seats are wasted on newspaper-readers. Really. What is the point in having that primo seat if all you are going to do is read the NZ Herald the entire flight, not only ignoring the beautiful scenery outside, but making it so that no one else can either? Harrumph. Usually I ask for the window seat, but this time I found myself rushing to check in.
Yesterday I flew Air New Zealand from Auckland to Wellington. A very short hop across the North Island, it only took an hour to …
